Does Lemon Juice Lighten Hair?

Does lemon juice lighten hair? Yep, you betcha! For decades lemon juice diluted with water has been successfully used to lighten hair. To lighten your hair, you simply rinse it with the diluted lemon juice solution on a daily basis. It will take a bit of time before you start to see a lighter shade of color, but it will be worth the wait. Once you reach the desired shade you simple reduce the volume of the lemon juice recipe you use.

This lemon juice formula is perfect for blondes whose hair tends to turn green because of chlorine in hot tubs or swimming pools. It neutralizes the chlorine as well as restores your natural blonde shade. Lemon juice also helps eliminate soap residue and hair product build up, not only lightening the hair but also adding shine as well as sealing the hair cuticle.

For those fun days spent playing at the beach carry along a premixed spray bottle of lemon juice and spritz your hair once in a while letting it dry naturally dry in the sun. Once dry, take a quick swim to rinse. A fun and easy way to lighten while you play.

For the perfect recipe, mix the juice of one lemon with 8 tablespoons of water. If you have long hair you’ll want to double the recipe. Apply the rinse with spray bottle or simply working it through your hair slowly. Leave it in your hair for several hours then follow by shampooing and rinsing thoroughly. For more dramatic results, spend some time in the sun. You can also create a variation of this recipe by including in a bit of olive oil (also a natural lightener) as a great remedy for dry, damaged hair. For conditioning purposes you’ll want to leave this mixture in your hair for at least 30 minutes then shampoo and rinse well.

Lightening your hair with lemon juice is the all natural way to beauty and shine with a wonderful lemony, refreshing smell and a great option right from your kitchen.

Me too, I’ve tried it but I haven’t really seen a difference maybe it’s because my hair is too dark because my sister tried it (she has lighter hair than me) and it worked perfectly on her so I don’t know sorry :(
